Uncle Tom’s Game Corner #42

It’s been a while again … I cannot and don’t want to not talk a lot in the originally intended scope and the actual time, scheduled frequency, it works with this column, obviously. Einstein said (supposedly) change: “The Definition of insanity is to keep doing the Same things and expecting different results.” Therefore, it is time to change the something and *maybe* it works then at least with the regularity of better.

First attempt: a shorter and hopefully more often. To treat the self-imposed Limit of five or more games per Blog, once again led to challenges. Professionally for a long time very, very well utilised – at least until Covid-19 came – there were simply too many phases in which I played a little(he is) or even no (new) title. Just as it could happen that I would have had sufficient title to Imagine, but just when it should go to the Writing, it was over with the leisure of professional, private, professional, or vocational reasons, suddenly. But end, all at the beginning (except for the consecutive numbering): Hello, my Name is Thomas, you can call me uncle Tom, and I’ve been playing a long time and still like Computer & video games.

Division by 0

In many areas, I like to conform to the stereotypes of the nerdy Geeks and geeky Nerds, but what concerns, for example, comic books & manga, I’m more of unbelesen. For animated movies, and – less frequently – also series, I can inspire me more. However, as regards games, I seem to actually have a real soft spot for drawn characters and backgrounds. Whether the now famous Ori and the Blind Forest (here it goes to our Test, the current continuation), the less known but equally magnificent Dust: an Elysian Tail, or even Underdogs such as Forgotton Anne: All of them are for me in the beginning, mainly because of their lovingly-drawn graphics style noticed.

Occurs Indivisible (engl. “indivisible”), which is exactly the same score suggests. Hand drawn in a style that will remind many of Studio Ghibli & co., is an ambitious Action role-playing game/platformer Mix – you can also just say Metroidvania to it. Animations, musical background, and even the setting of the numerous characters are really well done and almost flawless. Also, the Background Story is not bad, but in places somewhat uninspired, simply because too often heard: the Young, rebellious protagonist grows up absolutely well cared for and learns but nevertheless, since early Childhood to defend themselves. This is a good thing, because – how could it be otherwise – an evil army is destroyed for no reason and deprived of beloved people. There’s an old, mysterious Power awakens in you … task to save all the new friendships … revenge, repentance, forgiveness, … … etc. PP.

First difficult, then interesting, and, in time, then unfortunately, yet repetitive, the combat system. This real-time is based and focused, similar to a Beat’em up on combos. Each of the four active characters is assigned to a button, the him or her depending on the situation, defend or attack with. Special actions there is, if you press at the same time in a certain direction. Accordingly, one can let his characters individually, in groups or all at once to attack, with skill Blocks to break through, and – most important – the combo Running. Because the higher the combo, the higher the damage. Indivisible is a love-made, and quite an interesting game, but unfortunately, also its lengths.

Inappropriate suitable

We all find ourselves in because of Covid-19 is currently in an exception situation. Survive we will, mind you, in any case, but with a little more reason and common sense could make the Situation easier for everyone. But maybe I am also naive. During this global pandemic an apocalyptic titles like State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition to publish, like, at first glance, somewhat unfortunately seem to be, but it is also somehow inappropriate and was certainly not planned. In addition, it is also a technically & in terms of content, bored-to-Re-Release of a nearly two-year-old title, the user is next to Xbox One and Microsoft Store now available for Steam & Epic – available.

Just like the predecessor, the second part is a Survival-Horror title that leaves the player with a group of other Survivors in an open world, which has long been overrun by Zombies. In addition to the fulfilment of a loose main campaign is especially for the daily Survival: Collect resources and ammunition; the Development of one’s own base; the health of its own population to ensure; defense against Zombies, and unscrupulous fellows. In contrast to the rather bulky first part of the control and combat system seem a lot more fluid now. The level of difficulty was somewhat mitigated, but it can be for professionals back up screwed. On the simplest level, however, you must always keep several things in mind, and it will still manage, barely, to keep all the group members & allies at any time healthy and satisfied.

For some, it might NOT) be a conscious decision to play such a game in the current Situation (. I personally interpret since it is not so much into it, who wants to distribute with this quite successful title, the boredom during this challenging time, it is supposed to do so please.

As promised

That’s the way I had imagined it. Less semi-private ramblings of me, only two songs picked out, and a few more lines that sum up my opinion about the respective game and, hopefully, comprehensible together. Until next Time!

All the best and take care of your health
