Garmin Server down: a Ransomware attack makes for trouble
Many Wearables used by the Cloud service Garmin Connect currently has a disorder. Guilt is a Ransomware attack is apparently.
Owners of Wearables and navigation devices Garmin is not able to synchronize them up to date with Garmin Connect. The Cloud service is affected as well as other Services of the Garmin-offer of a fault. As the company explained on its website, even phone calls, E-Mails and Online Chats that are currently not possible.
Garmin with splits, they are working on a solution to the problem and sorry for inconvenience. The App reports a server maintenance: “maintenance work will be performed. Please try again later”. The outage has now lasted for about 24 hours. On Twitter, Garmin reported the fault on Thursday afternoon.

The cause of the fault has not spoken Garmin to date officially. The Taiwanese IT magazine IThome reported, however, in relying on anonymous sources, that a cyber attack was the cause of the system failure. According to an internal communication from Garmin’s IT Department, not just IT servers and databases, but also the production lines in Taiwan were affected. Maps and Software Updates are not possible.
