Vulnerability in Windows: System update urgently

Microsoft and BSI warn against the DejaBlue security gaps, and encourage all Windows users to install the security update.

Microsoft suggests Windows users, the latest security update to install as soon as possible. Not only the US companies but also the Federal office for information security (BSI) warns of the DejaBlue security gaps. By cyber criminals are able to sneak malicious Software on the Computer. Then, the computer spreads the Virus on their own via the Internet.

The danger threatens all versions of Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, 2012 and 2012 R2, and Windows 7. But the latest Windows Update includes the worm enabled security gaps as soon as it is installed on the System. Hackers can exploit the vulnerability in the operating system.

In most cases, Windows installs system updates, which is why many automatically prior to the vulnerability, called DejaBlue are protected. This vulnerability can disarm the system updates since may. According to the BSI, over 10,000 DejaBlue-vulnerable PCs to hang directly on the Internet. Obviously, some systems have not received a manual update. In the Update catalog, Microsoft provides each Update for manual Download.

The BSI President Arne Schönbohm is expressed as follows: “The BSI assesses these vulnerabilities as extremely critical, and calls on companies as well as citizens, of the available Updates. These vulnerabilities allow an attack scenarios that can cause enormous economic damage and should be treated with absolute priority. According to our estimates, it is with such an accumulation of vulnerabilities of this type, only a matter of time before it attacks with WannaCry similar Cyber.”

Difficulties to prepare the Update to PCs that work with a combination of Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 and antivirus Norton or Symantec. Here is the latest security update system crashes caused, which is why Microsoft is holding back the distribution for these systems.

The urgently needed security update to install, however, would have to users of Windows 7 and Windows Server uninstall 2008 Symantec and Norton. At least until Microsoft can fix the interaction between the operating system and anti-virus program. A manual Installation of the Updates does not make sense as long as Symantec and Norton are on the computer still active.
