Wind – Bound- Played

Picturesque Islands, of wild animals, raging waves and dangerous sea creatures. All of this I was allowed to, in a first Hands-On Event to be wind-bound – the new game from the Publisher, Deep Silverexperience. In just under one and a half hours, I was allowed to go in this exciting Remote-Event in a fight for Survival on desert Islands. And so it was only my self-built boat, and I, in the fierce fight against the wild waves, and ancient dangers. Always on Board with the burning question: Is wind bound really just a Zeldarip-off for the PC?

On Wednesday, may 29. In July, I had the unique opportunity, at a press Event by Koch Media – media company of Publisher Deep Silver, for the first time, even in wind bound in lake pierce. I was initially skeptical that such a Remote Event can work really well, so I was convinced from the first Minute to the contrary. The entire Event was very organized and without any problems!

At the beginning was given to all participants a short presentation on the part of the Deep Silver Community Manager, the a brief Overview of the Setting of the wind bound mediated. We slip in and out of the game in the role of Kara, a young female warrior, which vessel suffered a fracture. Wind-bound is understood as a game with smooth Transition between hard Survival Game and Action-RPG – appropriately, of course, a mysterious story with the Luggage! Nevertheless, the game is very much free space in the design of your own adventure. There is no predetermined story quests or tasks, which must be contested, rather, we can decide at any time, as we want to beat us through the Wilderness.

The game principle of wind bound is simply stated: In Kara’s footsteps, it from island to island, to travel, and if possible not to (too often…) to die. Each of the visited island, has a limited amount of resources or animals, which can help us to Survive. Thus, we are constantly forced to travel to the world of wind bound on our ongoing search for resources to explore. This basic idea, I really liked that! The Islands are each Time re-generated procedurally and are nevertheless extremely varied. In the course of each Chapter of the game the level of difficulty of our island increases explorations further. We will visit in the beginning, typical of Islands with picturesque beaches and little risk, so we’ll be landing soon in deserts, swamps or lava areas! So to be offered according to the developers, a varied game experience.

I had in the run-up to little wind-bound employees. I knew the first Gameplay Trailer, but these were all mostly as a “Zeldarip-off” dismissed. One must first look also definitely admit that wind bound , especially graphically very similar to the last Zelda-offshoots such as Breath of the Wild or The Wind Waker has. Despite this initial impression, I tried in as unbiased a fashion as possible to the Remote-Session approach and find out whether wind bound as a “Zelda for the PC” would prove!



Even if Similarities with the last few Zeldatitles, not from the Hand of the assign, I tried impartially in the Hands-On Session to go!

The first steps in the Wild!

After this short presentation of the actual Hands-On Session began. We were divided into small groups. Each group consisted of four to five people, each accompanied by an individual supervisor. We received from our supervisor, a brief introduction to the panel, and then the time had come to myself in the waves plunge: Chapter 1 of the story awaited me!

In this first, of nearly forty minutes I learned the basics of wind bound. The basic control of Kara, the heroine of our adventure, the combat Mechanics, and the absolutely essential Crafting counted; for it is only with our small knives equipped to Survive is impossible. Fight with the start-up survival difficulties

You don’t realize: in the Wilderness, everything is going definitely as smoothly as expected. However, even though I’m a hunter, and collector of really, really bad, so I had yet so much fun that the time flew past me!

As I explored the island seemed to be my best friend, I decided that it was time to plunge myself into the water. Motivated by this first success in my insular combat, Survival, I introduced me to the wild sea. This worked, in the light of experience, is incredibly easy. This feeling of freedom was made on the part of the developer is wonderful. The first boat trip really blew me away totally. Already in the first Chapter, I realized from the first Minute: wind-bound like a totally cute look, but it’s really a tough Survival game!

Row, Row, Row my boat… – we went with Chapter 4

After the first forty minutes of the Session of each participant of our groups was changed maintainer to a premade game level of Chapter 4. Kara had gathered at this time already have a decent Arsenal of weapons and resources it lacked to us. So I had from this time, such as a helmet, which is the case, reduced damage. This showed definitely that the specially-manufactured equipment is in the course of the game, big impact! To the teeth armed and well I did not ready me for thus long with the first island, but swung me directly on my boat from back to freedom, back on great travel in the broad sea!

Navigating the open sea was now – a few chapters later, as soon appeared, already been much more challenging! I have many rocks and sea creatures were in the way, which you have to fight either, or could simply sail around. Here, too, the numerous possibilities which you have as a player, his own experience tailor were always. No fight is a really forced, rather you must choose it.

First is the historical impressions… overshadowed by an awkward finish!

In the course of the second Session were also the first trains of the mysterious story, which is wind bound is based on. At the top of each island, we meet a blue-glowing shell, the energy we absorb in our chain. Three such stations, it was on the various Islands of this Chapter, to find. I can well imagine that you can determine through these “stations” the speed of the own history and, thus, to its own discretion, either by his adventure sprints, or enjoys. Of the extent of the story, I was disappointed so far, but something. Constantly we only got appetizers served, however, not a single real clue what is going on in the world here is actually going on. Can we use magic? What is the purpose of our chain? Many such questions were asked me in the Hands-On Session. This does not mean, however, that the play Session hurt my curiosity on the final version of the game absolutely, but the same really has sparked!

Thoughts are not lost in history and the environment, I even noticed how the time of the second Session-half flew by. Distracted by the last sunset, my adventure ended, finally, as clumsy as it had started – namely, with a literal Bang, caused by nothing other than my boat, which I use in hours of hand work – be said! – cumbersome together had built. The pink jellyfish, which cavorted inviting to my boat, not “wanted to play but just” and even less cuddling. They looked so friendly in the red glow of the descending sun. With a collision, and so, the faithful wooden companion said goodbye. Shut up, Kara is dead. Since you are the one who fights through dangerous Islands, just to drown here. Wow. What a way to go. Damn jellyfish, but also.

Whether now, thanks to the vagueness of the story, the amazingly engaging Gameplay, or the pleasant atmosphere, the almost one and a half hours of wind bound made all in all, definitely a good one. (This is also my final, theatrical departure owed. Of a jellyfish, and I’m throwing myself definitely out of control – the revenge!)

Hands-On Conclusion

The first Gameplay Trailer for the actual feeling of the wind bound really not fair. Wind-bound like in some trains, especially graphically to games of the Zelda series to remember, however, it provides a very unique and extremely engaging feel. Things like the focus on the boat, the exciting trips, or procedurally generated Islands are not mediated by the same sufficient. Especially affects wind-bound in the trailers of a lot of to be harmless and much too quiet! Wind bound , however, is the game become the fight for the pure Survival, the family and the home. The attachment to the boat as the center of our fight and I liked particularly well. Often in such Games the aim of a new base and build a new life. But this time the way is really the goal – something I’ve experienced so far rarely as the focus of such a Survival game.

I’m very excited to see the final version of the game and especially whether, in fact, a thrilling story under the surface of this Survival is hide Games. Also, under the System of the “Chapter” I can think of so far, especially in combination with the mysterious shell stations. This Chapter really have a Story for us, or they serve only as a game play technical point of reference, it is a long process? I’m curious what we can expect on the Islands and how many chapters will make it into the final game.

My only doubt so far in the area of the inertial control and the wind-bound due variety. Because as much as I the boat trips on the horizon also enjoyed, so I asked myself, if this feeling even after twenty island would be set. In the Preview, we were able to have a glimpse of the promised varied Islands in principle, but, unfortunately, not even to visit. (Yeah ok – maybe due to the sometimes of my inability, but I have for all of you effort!)

Otherwise, agreed with me, my first foray into wind bound incredibly positive. It’s just a lot of fun in front of wonder to sail the beautiful scenery from island to island, and new weapons to equip, and to marvel at the sunset at the campfire sitting. The increase in difficulty, I could already sense in this short Session and he has definitely motivating.
