Start of Bitcoin Futures on Bakkt shifts to 2019

The start of the crypto exchange Bakket is regarded as a new possibility to break the current downward trend and trigger a new bull run. The announced Bitcoin futures will not start in December, but in January of 2019.

All crypto investors are currently hoping for an event that will replace the negative trend and flood fresh capital into the market with new euphoria and hope. One reason for this is seen in the “Bakkt” instead of the Intercontintal Exchange, owner of the New York Stock Exchange. The start of the Bitcoin Futures has now been postponed to 24.01.2019. The firm argues that this decision would provide additional time to better prepare corporate clients and other investors for the launch:

ICE Futures US, Inc. will date the new Daily Futures contract of Bakkt Bitcoin (USD) as of the trading day on Thursday, January 24, 2019, subject to regulatory approval. The new listing timeframe will allow the customer and the clearing member additional time before the start of trading and storage of the new contract.

These Bitcoin Futures from Bakkt (USD) should go live on 12.12.2018 on the ICE. The daily futures contracts are the first opportunity to trade a “physically” covered crypto futures product offered on a reputable regulated mainstream medium. The Bitcoin futures on the CME and CBOE exchanges are paid out in cash (USD) after termination, so that no Bitcoins change hands.

The Bitcoin price is currently staggering and has lost more than USD 1,000 in recent days, slipping to its lowest level since October last year. Bitcoin still occupies first place among the world’s largest crypto currencies and currently has a price of $4,536.02.
