Roger Ver comments on the Bitcoin Cash Hard Fork

In a recent video Roger Ver, the extroverted proponent of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and the CEO of Bitcoin.com talks about the upcoming Bitcoin Cash Hard Fork. Wright explained that his company nChain is working on the BCH software implementation Bitcoin SV, Wright had “deceived” him.

Roger Ver and self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator Craig Wright were once close friends and propagated that Bitcoin Cash (BCH) fulfilled Bitcoin’s true vision. This has now changed. As Ver explains in the Youtube video, “it’s never easy to say that you were wrong, but maybe I was wrong”.

In the video entitled “Roger Ver’s Thoughts on 15th November Bitcoin Cash Upgrade”, Ver presents an email that he says he received from Craig Wright on 3rd November after Bitcoin.com announced that it would support the upgrade plan of Bitcoin ABC and not Wrights and nChain’s implementation. Wright supposedly wrote:

If you take the side of ABC, you hate Bitcoin, you are my enemy. You f-king have no idea what that means. You will. I am Satoshi. I wish you a good life. You’ll discover me now if you’re pissed off. And, no. You could have had proof. It’s your call. F-k you.

Craig Wright publicly pulled out even further on Twitter, accusing the Bitcoin ABC group of supporting Roger Ver and Jihan Wu (CEO of Bitmain) with their implementation of BCH child pronography and darknet (Silk Road 2.0):

If @jihanwu, @Rogerver & ABC devs want to make #Permissionless Kiddie porn sites and Silk Road Version2.0

They can piss off to #Dash

They are NOT adding this to #BCH

This is the ONLY real use case they have and it is not happening!

Ver also claims in the video that his dispute with Wright is about more than personal insults and political differences. He said that over time he had become skeptical about Wright’s technical understanding.

Some things Craig says are really right, but other things he talks about – he has no idea. […] It seems strange that Craig refuses to participate in any technical debate there [at a conference], and my suspicion at this point is that he cannot. And I’ve seen a few things that make me skeptical – very, very, very, very, very skeptical.

The Backgrounds

The Bitcoin Cash network had already moved continuously towards war in recent months. The Bitcoin Cash network is updated every six months. In preparation, Bitcoin published ABC, the dominant full node implementation for Bitcoin Cash, in August, changes to the consensus protocols. Craig Wright, the nChain chief scientist, then announced the launch of a competing software called Bitcoin SV (Satoshi’s Vision). Both variants are not compatible with each other.

In the last days it turned out that the majority supports the Bitcoin ABC version. The reasons for this are manifold and partly very technical. As Ver said in the video, but there is a main reason: Craig Wright himself.

Ver says in the video:

I support ABC because I think it has a better team. I think there are people that are easier to deal with. I think it’s the people who are generally more competent.
