Red Cross uses blockchain for more donation transparency

An interesting message from Irish messages makes the round on early Saturday morning. It shows again once that the Blockchain is expressed everyday-suited and currencies are suitable like the Bitcoin by no means only for risk-joyful gold diggers.

Red cross knows himself in good company

What’s it about? Well, the fewest crypto currencies would have expected a charitable use years ago despite all optimism in the blockchain. Currencies like Ethereum and their systems can do a good job in this area, if only because of the relatively low transaction fees. At the end of November, for example, we reported here about a newly established network in Austria that uses the blockchain via its own currency – the Token 4 Hope. And now the Red Cross, after some other international organisations have already thought about using it.

App should make donations traceable

The institution showed that donors can now be offered maximum transparency through the use of a mobile app and the blockchain. The Red Cross is cooperating with a Dublin startup, which is called AID. The app called “TraceDonate” is intended to give donors insights into how and where their donated amounts will ultimately be used. This is especially important for many donors. In the past many institutions had rumours or confirmed reports of misuse of donations and trickled funds, which never reached the actual needy.

The Red Cross now wants to fight such problems with the Blockchain-based app. In addition, similar activities at other institutions have shown that the blockchain also allows easier and faster transactions for the organizations themselves. The lower costs are unquestionably also an argument.
