New Mining Malware warning in Flash Player

Recently there have been reports about malware related to some media players. Now the service provider Palo Alto Networks points out another problem that occurs during the installation of an update for the Adobe Flash Player. This is also a crypto-malware, which is counterfeit and often not recognized by potential victims.

Flash users should be careful

The Flash Player from Adobe is installed on many computers. Not only users who buy or mine Bitcoin themselves should therefore be attentive. The insidious thing in this particular case is that at first glance the update actually serves the safety of the users. But the XMRig format is installed in the background – the crypto miner robs users of some of the resources of the respective system, as the warnings make clear. Often the campaigns are unnoticed installed variants that are not recognizable for the affected systems. In this case, the fact that the malware ends up on the system as part of a legitimate update activity represents a certain exception. The malware is installed with

.

Normal update is the starting point for malware installation

On top of that, system users can hardly recognize the exact purpose of the manoeuvre. However, the practice is not completely new. However, the fact that it is pretended to be an indispensable update offer is rather rare so far. The Adobe Flash Player is indeed affected by technical issues resulting from the installation of the system update, thus improving security conditions. The dilemma is that the crypto miner lands on the Windows-based computer at the same time. The name of the software bears the suffix “AdobeFlashPlayer_”, as the experts announced. Adobe is involved in this update process. For users this means: As a victim of the Miner, the CPU memory is partly used elsewhere.

Massive power limitations may occur

The process is not a major problem for the system itself. As is so often the case when malware is hidden and installed. The load capacity of the memory, however, can be reduced to a value below 90 percent, and the battery life also decreases. Not only stationary computers, but also mobile devices with Flash Player can be affected. This is one of many reports of this kind in 2018.
