Google throws Ethereum Wallet MetaMask from the Play Store

After hundreds of Videos that have been campaigning for Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies, have been deleted on YouTube, the crypto Community is now facing a further ban.

This Time Google has banned MetaMask, an Ethereum Wallet and a mobile Browser that is supported by the Ethereum incubator ConsenSys, and from the Google Play Store taken.

The Android Store no longer lists the Client MetaMask. The technology of MetaMask allows the users to manage their crypto-currencies, to browse the Ethereum Blockchain from a standard browser, Ethereum-DApps and Ethereum transactions. In the last year MetaMask was a milestone of 1.3 million Downloads the most popular Ethereum Wallet in the world.

Google claims that MetaMask has hurt the financial services directives of the company, expressly prohibiting crypto-Mining on mobile devices. MetaMask has appealed the decision, but without success, although she has made it clear that the technology of the company allows no crypto Mining.

The rejection of the appeal quoted the same policy: No Mining on Android. We don’t do that. It is not clear whether the reviewer understands the policy, or whether you enforce an unwritten policy. Either way, it’s time for #ProtectWeb3.

The financial services policy from Google also States:

We don’t allow Apps, which the users of the fraudulent or harmful financial products and services expose. For the purposes of this Directive, we will consider financial products and services as such, the currencies with the administration or investment of money and Crypto, including personal advice, related.

If your App contains financial products and services, or advertises, you need to comply with state and local regulations for each Region or country that your App is targeting – for example, you need to make specific, according to the local law, of information required.

MetaMask’s crypto-Wallet was removed in July 2018 in the Chrome Web Store, but was promptly re-introduced. MetaMask said at the time:

Our community spoke loud, and we were spontaneously re-recorded.

As a Web 3.0 Tool, the MetaMask is designed to promote the decentralization, a hallmark of the next Iteration of the Internet.

The case of the MetaMask follows several days after the YouTube has made a short-term deletion of many of the popular crypto-Youtubers on the basis of false claims that the contents were “harmful or dangerous”. Since the deletions were referred to as “the error”, produced YouTube Videos, but again.

Crypto Lark said its 34,000 Followers on Twitter, that the crypto-channel is up and running again.

Strike away, and almost 300 Videos on YT restored, looks like we’re back in business, time to talk again about crypto on the Internet.

While MetaMask is hoping for a similar reversal, the company Alternatives to the Status quo.

If it is forbidden, we are working on other ways to provide our services to the users, who are still stranded on the Android platform, available while you migrate to something freer. The story does not end here, and you will certainly not end with the victory of Goliath. #ProtectWeb3.

So please, speak up and show Google that you are not going to support a platform, the censored Disintermediation. There are many other great browsers, like Firefox, or Brave. Some nice YouTube Alternatives are also on the rise.
