Final Fantasy XV: new DLCs cancelled, Tabata leaves Square Enix

The second Jubilee stream to Final Fantasy XV tonight was probably not what fans had hoped for: Instead of new news about the upcoming DLC episodes around Ardyn, Aranea, Luna and Noctis, which had already been announced some months ago under the overall title Dawn of a New Future, there was the unpleasant news that three of these extensions have now been cancelled – only episode Ardyn will be released, namely in March 2019.

Zu Episode Ardyn gab there then at least a teaser trailer, but the fans a little trutzen let because he breaks with the known Lore breaks. We are curious to see what awaits us here. A prologue animation film to be released before the episode will introduce the story. In addition, it was announced that the story of the deleted three DLC in of still unknown form would also be released. More details about this will be announced later.

Directly after that there was even more bad news for all Square Enix fans: Hajima Tabata, the director and producer of FFXV, who recently also took over the management of the new SE studio Luminous Productions, left both companies and will dedicate himself to his own projects in the future.

As compensation for the bad news there were two more announcements about Final Fantasy XV. On the one hand, a Standalone version of the multiplayer expansion Companions will be released on December 12th/13th, which will be available free of charge to all current owners of the Companion DLC and will include 10 new boss fights as well as additional costumes and equipment. Those who do not yet own companions will be able to purchase them from December for an estimated 10 euros. The standalone version is exclusively available for consoles and will replace the current expansion there, which also means that the current trophies will only be available until the December release. Those who play the FFXV Windows Edition will be able to enjoy the new content in the form of an update for expansion.

The final announcement was that a new collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV will be launched at the same time as the December update. As part of the quest Adventurer From Another World you will be able to unlock new costumes for your FFXV party here.
