Epilogue: Crossroads Inn

A charming, medieval Setting, with the Chance to make his own tavern to build? With both a Sandbox mode, as well as a Story campaign? As a long-time Fan of simulation and building games like The Sims or Anno, my heart beat at the sight of the first information about Crossroads Inn is definitely higher. The basic idea of the game is very sound rich. The first impression, unfortunately, was very sobering – and was especially full of Bugs!

A bumpy entry into the tavern of life

When first Entering the game, we are thrown right into the action. A sequence of 2.5 D images in the hand drawn style gives us the story of the Crossroads Inn. To convince these know, and also the Soundtrack from the first second to very consistent.

The king of medieval Kingdom is to bless the Temporal. He, however, has no heir – and we sense our Chance. A tavern will be built! You must impress the king, and we have an Empire with seemingly infinite Power and wealth verschafen. Well – so at least on paper. For how please – Power and wealth? Our little tavern? The story seemed to be in already from the beginning but a little far-fetched, but for a simulation game is for me absolutely crucial.

After that, it goes directly – and said the tavern would be built. To me in the world way I wanted to start first with the campaign mode. Right from the beginning: an absolute Graphics is wonderful Crossroads Inn is definitely not in need of it but in my eyes, not really to be. The little “outdated” looking graphics a very good in the medieval Setting, and fits the theme accordingly! Specifically, the lighting effects are very appealing.

The campaign mode put me right at the beginning before some of the logical problems. Because the scale of the tasks that lead the player through the story, really had to be executed absolutely correctly. So you have to place, for example, in the second Quest of three tables. Since enough money was available, I decided to build the four tables. This led, however, that the staff was completely overwhelmed with the cleaning of the extra table and the next tasks such as the Serving of wine, completely ignored.

So everything on the beginning, and a new game will begin – this time with three tables. Prompt I was able to play with the story successfully. Clearly, I can also hold, directly, exactly to the instructions. I was but, unfortunately, in simulation games it is never good – and it was bumping a little frustrating at the beginning to such problems. The other Play was not known to me, only the lack of money in the Story mode was mostly the Problem.

After the first few hours of play, and a total of four game restarts due to logical limitations, I decided – quite a bit annoyed to switch to the Sandbox mode. Because it’s exactly what I would be also interested from the beginning to the heart. Here you can really go to town and the tavern to freely zoom in on and make, decorate and with the numerous number of guests to fill – and especially as many tables as you really want to! Here, it is definitely not to take care to not overextend yourself, because there is always something to do! The current state of it seemed to me definitely says that the Crossroads Inn for thought is, in the Sandbox-mode is seen to be.

The tavern offers plenty of space for hungry guests

A barrel full of Bugs

The game principle of the Crossroads Inn was in Sandbox mode really good on and seemed very full of promise. However, I did not know that I should expect a much bigger obstacle: namely the numerous Bugs which I’ve encountered.

You want to make, for example, the upper floor of the tavern, there is no furniture in areas that are occupied in the basement already. The settings for the staff of the tavern didn’t work at all. Self-5-7 waiter managed to serve 10 guests. They ignored any and all instructions, spent a whole day to rinse so that dishes, or remained in part, even frozen until I started the game from scratch. Also, if enough wine is available in the warehouse, which is regularly thrown, the message that the staff could serve no wine. You instructed an employee to bring a wine barrel to the upper floor, he stayed on the stairs stuck. These were, unfortunately, only a few examples of the obstacles that awaited me.

Further to these, unfortunately, are numerous in-game Bugs, some missing Translations (Polish instead of English), an often juddering to not possible to Navigate on the large map of the world, as well as a few complete crashes of the game still. This left a slightly dull aftertaste, and took me quite the Motivation to fill my tavern in the distant future of the Kingdom.

The surrounding world was charmingly decorated – unfortunately can not make the strong Bugs but betting.

CONCLUSION

Crossroads Inn is a game, the idea really a lot of Potential, but unfortunately, so far, more sobering was implemented. The start was very bumpy, but as I was out of the arc of time made it definitely fun to zoom in on my tavern to optimize my menu, or to smuggle under the Hand of the cheap prices of wine. The graph has to convince white a certain charm, and also the Soundtrack.

To date, however, I phase way, but it was easy to be frustrated by missing features or simply serious errors. This was really a great pity – was the Setting and the actual idea, however, so promising, and the Sandbox mode is also really fun. It should be possible for the developers to fix some of the very numerous Bugs, I can imagine definitely, to invest more time and love in my own tavern. Prior to that, I’m afraid, unfortunately, about to run again my tavern to the virtual crash.
