Bitcoin adaptation: 1,500 restaurants in Denmark accept Bitcoin

Despite the continuing bear market, there are companies that have recognized the opportunities and advantages of crypto currencies such as Bitcoin and have integrated Bitcoin into their business processes through intelligent use, thus decisively advancing adaptation. A food supplier from Denmark has started to allow Bitcoin as a legitimate means of payment.

Hungry.dk, a Danish supplier to restaurants and wholesalers with over 1,500 companies in the database, has decided to support Bitcoin as a payment method. The company has been testing the use of Bitcoin as a payment channel for its customers for several years, but in 2017 there was a traffic jam in the Bitcoin blockchain and the transactions took a very long time and the costs have increased significantly. That’s why the Hungry.dk had removed Bitcoin again. Due to the progress in the area of scaling and some updates, this payment channel has been resumed (freely translated):

We have already accepted Bitcoins as a means of payment for a long time. However, last year we decided to remove the feature temporarily, as the average transaction time was too long and the experience was not the best.

The problems have now been fixed and we have added the option again. Hungry.dk handles the payment so that you can always use Bitcoins with all restaurants found on Hungry.dk.

To date, the company has made no official statements about how many orders have actually been placed and the invoice paid with Bitcoin, but demand appears to have increased. It was not for nothing that the company finally reinstated Bitcoin in its payment portfolio.

Bitcoin accepted here: Worldwide acceptance steadily increasing

Bitcoin has become an indispensable part of today’s world, so that its distribution continues to increase worldwide. According to research by Larry Cermak, lead analist at The Block, there are currently more than 13,000 Bitcoin acceptance sites worldwide. The largest share is in the United States, followed by Brazil, Italy, Spain, Germany and Canada.

Although distribution has not yet reached a critical level to counter the traditional financial system, processing and acceptance within industry and the population are increasing daily. Progress in the further development of the Lightning network also makes a positive contribution. Cermak executes (freely translated):

If there is a bull market with high volatility, the number of new traders who accept Bitcoin increases. It is not clear whether someone really wants to pay with Bitcoin – but the option is available. It will be interesting to observe whether the advent of the Lightning network can arouse interest and inspire Bitcoin again to make payments.
