Art of the video game world: Virtual photography

Since the dawn of video game Era, fascinating game worlds, and each year more detailed and realistic. Also, the stories and their characters captivate you and create unique moments. Thanks to various Tools, it is now possible for us, these special experiences by Screenshots capture. This New Media Art Trend called virtual photographer (VP), and I’m your host, completely.

In the year 2006, for the first time photographically captured Screenshots in the simulation game Second Life. Here were exhibited in a virtual gallery of the Games, photographs from various avatars. No later than in may 2016, when NVIDIA its in-game screen capture Software on the market has expanded in the Screenshot-style Trend. Using Ansel, it is possible to take pictures using a Strobe camera to make a 360° photo spheres to create, and in post-processing your works to edit. But now the to Make virtual photographs is not only PC players, because more and more console titles appear with included photo mode, or this is patched downstream. A prominent example is that the photo mode-Trend, the consoles are a neat thrust has missed, was Horizon Zero Dawn. And, as before, springing up images of the protagonist like mushrooms out of the ground!

Animals have done it to me personally, and I think an animal companion would be a good fit to Aloy 😉

Basically, it is similar to in real life. You see something Beautiful and think, that would be a cute Background for the PC or the Smartphone, and get on with it. For me it was when Playing the DLC of The Witcher 3, as I’ve started to make Screenshots. In principle, it is important to distinguish between photographs and simple Screenshots – a picture of a Cutscene, is not a self-created image! A virtual photography to make, you need to have full control over the camera, and that is in between the sequences, at least on consoles – unfortunately not possible. My first photo mode experiences I had while Playing Horizon Zero Dawn. At first I was a little overwhelmed, because of the mode offers a few settings: Of various body poses, which can take the protagonist Aloy, on focus and blur, to Filters, to the coloring to adjust to your desired atmosphere. My Highlight: the time of day Change, in order to get the perfect light. And thanks to the varied Open World, and the diverse animal world of your creativity is almost limitless.

Virtual photography is a Trend that continues to grow is. On various social media, such as Twitter or Instagram, be daily posted thousands of pictures. Players all over the world share their own experiences and special moments with others, which often ends up in long conversations about the game. You can see Games, by looking at virtual photographs of others, with a completely new, fresh angle. Now are photo modes from Ubisoft titles that will be essential and also the latest God of war or Spiderman-titles were a Tool for the Manufacture of a Screenshot of the type equipped. And the best part is that the Studios are supporting this new type of digital art, whether with contests, or even exhibitions. Even Sony recognizes on its PlayStation Blog page weekly, to the topics selected appropriate, photographs of the Community. For me, video games such as long trips, in which I will have a wonderful time spend, and me, in addition to the actual Play, also creative can live.

Finally, I would like to introduce you to a couple of virtual photographers, to document how I, through a variety of game worlds to travel and your experiences!

“My love for the Virtual photography began very random and unspectacular. As I at the time, Horizon Zero, the Dawn played, I was eventually curious about what the photo mode, so power and was completely overwhelmed, for a great number of opportunities for gorgeous pictures in the earth. And from this point on, I took advantage of that every Time I saw something Beautiful. So, all two meters of felt.

When I decided to share my photos in social media, I was surprised and glad that a lot of other people share the same passion for Gaming, and for this Form of photography. The God of war photo competition with this image to win means the world to me even today, so incredibly much. Because although I like my images well, I would have never thought that you are good enough to get the attention of the developers of a game.

Virtual photography has become so much a part of my gameplay, how to use the movement keys and through them I can share my passion for games. My biggest Motivation and favorite subject are Portraits. Especially Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Alexius. My love for this game and, in particular, for this character has helped me through so much. I have found my place of refuge. And each of us needs to. My pictures are to Express my way of how much he means to me. I would like to share what makes me happy. No matter what other people think.“

My VP-journey began a few years ago, when I started, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to play. First of all, I’ve done just blindly simplest Screenshots of everything I saw, but after I had done this for a while, I began to things like composition, shapes, and colors, to pay more attention. To discovered about this time, I also use the Skyrim-Community on Instagram, so I started to post my photos there and found a lot of nice people with whom I was able to get in touch. As you can imagine, I found after some research that virtual photography is actually a thing, and that really got me motivated to start a real VP-travel and to learn new things. And now here we are!

To make close-to-nature shots, the, what I like best is definitely. I have the feeling that my creativity is greatest when I just run in the game world around, and places you can freely explore.

The composition in this shot was actually an accident, but when I saw the deer in front of such a tree, I knew exactly that I wanted the Branches of the tree somehow, such as the Antlers of the deer look. It took me a while until I get everything right, but it worked. Then I edited the image a little, and voila! If has taught me this Hobby is something, then it is definitely the importance of patience!

The virtual photography is a passion of mine. It felt to me like a natural development to move in the VP, after I had studied four years in photography in real life, and I began to feel this jaded, mainly because of the cost. And then I discovered the virtual photography; I could visit any place in the world from home. And not only this world but also the fictional! The Play is, for me, an escape, an escape from reality, and the virtual photography is a peaceful valve that allows me to moments within Games to capture, for example, a beautiful scene recording, or the Portrait of a character.

The recording, which I want to show is Sam Drake from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. I’m going to take advantage of every opportunity to share Sam with the world, because he has a very special place in my heart, and I just love to photograph him. If I photograph him, I try like the little Details of him to capture; like the expressions on his face.

As you can probably think of, Sam is my favorite subject to Photograph! But portraits of my favorite are in General topic – I like to create dramatic, evocative or intimate Portraits of people. I try to put myself in the landscapes, but they are only included, if I see a pretty piece of scenery, while Portraits are for me something personal.

“First of all, the virtual photography was a way for me to make me feel better, because I went through a serious Depression and found little to no joy in what I did. Then I discovered the photo mode in Assassin’s Creed Origins, and after I graphic design & Film as a main subject had studied, and one of my biggest obsessions in life movie posters were, in which I, both as a hobby as well as professionally have worked, I began my journey.

At some point during my Virtual photography trip, I decided to go for a full Portrait, and began to turn everything in as if it should be used for a Poster. And finally, I said to myself, why the hell not actually in the Poster turn? And since I started with the Editing!

All in all it was a wonderful journey, full of UPS and Downs and has taught me so much about myself and I not only helped them to grow as a Person, but also to improve my own skills.“
